Hypnotherapy
is a tool. Bad habits? Unwanted behaviours?
Fears? Phobias? Weight issues? Smoking?
You name it... hypnosis works. Hypnotherapy promotes
immediate change focusing your subconscious mind on what you
want to change.

How
does hypnosis work? |
To
get an understanding of how hypnosis works, first consider the inner
workings of the mind. The mind has four different levels of
activity: beta, alpha, theta and delta. Theta and delta
both occur during different levels of sleep. Beta is our
normal waking state. Alpha corresponds to the subconscious
mind and occurs when we are hypnotized, meditating, during
biofeedback and even daydreaming.
Once
in the alpha state we are more receptive to suggestion and/or
incorporating behavioural changes into our lives: many of which we
might resist in a strictly conscious or beta state.
Hypnosis
is the vehicle we use to access the alpha state.

Will
I lose control while in hypnosis? |
Not
at all. Your subconscious will not permit you to do anything
hurtful to yourself nor anything that you would not do while fully
conscious. Hypnosis will not make you go against your own
internal value system. Remember, you are ultimately the one in
control... the hypnotherapist simply facilitates the process.

 |
What
can I expect during the hypnotherapy session? |
The
session begins with an assessment and discussion. Then
dependent on your needs, we determine the best course of action.
The
next step entails guiding you through a relaxation process which
gently leads into a state of hypnosis. Once this state has
been reached we are ready to follow through incorporating the behavioural changes.
Upon completion, you are slowly and gently
brought out of hypnosis feeling relaxed and refreshed. Frequently
self-hypnosis is discussed and the steps to incorporating them into
your own life are provided.
